Lorna Simpson

Lorna Simpson’s work inspires me because of the way she interrogates memory, representation, and archival absence. Through photography, text, and found imagery, she challenges how Black identities have historically been documented and interpreted. I am particularly influenced by her ability to use fragmentation and ambiguity to encourage reflection on race, gender, history, and visibility.
