The Quilts of Gee's Bend (John Beardsley)

This book introduced me to the histories, materials, and community behind the quilts of Gee’s Bend. I was especially inspired by the improvisation, reuse of fabric, and collective care embedded within the quilting tradition. It helped me understand Gee’s Bend quilts as both artistic and deeply connected to survival, memory, and Black cultural preservation.
